Before redevelopment, this area in Greater Paris was crisscrossed with municipal infrastructure. Our project radically transforms the site into an impressive 5-hectare garden-plaza. Now regreened and bursting with vegetation, this new triangular public plaza joins the likes of other major redesigned spaces along the old city walls of Paris, including the Place de la Nation and Place de la Concorde. Here, the public plaza marks the first stage in a future 10-hectare continuous park. The regreened site extends beneath the elevated ring road, creating open and legible planted corridors while lush trees spring up around the highway. Once completed, the future Parc Canal and Parc Bertrand parks will form a vast and vibrant landscape, flowing from the Canal Saint-Denis to the Canal de l’Ourcq canals. At the city level, this new network of parks will round out the system of open green spaces in northeast Paris.
