This project, composed of a hierarchical network of pathways, lays out a discovery trail through Alésia's Museum Park in which the geographical and historical dimensions of the site can be grasped and appreciated. Defined largely by already existing paths, the trail takes into account the territory's current users and practices.
The interventions consist primarily of the renewal of the paths and observation areas, as well as a careful and pointed transformation of the wooded areas for better legibility of the site. The principal discovery trail covers an extensive itinerary of 15 kilometers.
Three typologies of pathway can therefore be classified:
- intermediate routes or smaller loops of the overall configuration
- routes for the discovery of the fields of Caesar
- secondary routes intended to supplement the primary trail
All of these trails link up, on the larger scale, with Europe's Grande Randonnée (GR) network of long distance footpaths.
