TEXT

The garden encircling the villa by architect Stéphane Beel blends seamlessly into the existing rural landscape. The horizontal and vertical lines of both the residence and garden converse with those of the landscape itself, creating a subtle interplay of size and scale. Countless vanishing points and lines of sight emerge from the collection of geometric elements around the property: the lawn, the pond before the residence, the semi-open fence reminiscent of American picket fencing, the walls of windows and open interiors of the residence, and the screen of existing poplar trees. A few trees are precisely planted in front of the residence. The scenic space is without pathways or driveway. Instead, a grassy surface encircling the residence provides car access.
