TEXT

The vast parking lot designed for the Zénith auditorium in Limoges relies upon the presence of a neighboring forest to usher in a plant presence within its own limits. A collection of groves is conceived as an integral part of the larger landscape, extending past the parking lot's perimeter. The plant organization is therefore adapted to the context, positioned and set up using specific technical means.

The parking lot fulfills its function while all the while evoking a landscape in the countryside. The majority of the ground area is composed modestly of grass, which was possible through precise technical research. Working with consultants specializing in ground design, we envisioned means with which a meadow could be created that would always remain green despite the cars being parked on it, while avoiding striating the area with obvious structures. Grain size analysis made it possible for the ground to be designed both with the capacity to be drained, with a base capable of supporting a vehicle even during a thaw, as well as fertile enough for the unwatered meadow to grow.

A sizable stratum of trees is formed out of groves arranged randomly within the parking lot's configuration. The size of each planting is equivalent to one or two parking spots.

The groves, gradually becoming denser as they approach the forest, take on the appearance together of a sort of thick edge.
