TEXT

West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), major center for music, performing and visual arts on a dramatic harbor-front site in the heart of Hong Kong. The Kowloon bay, the narrow body of water separating Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula offer this playful archipelago where magnificent games are set in motion, from one island to the next, urban skylines and mountain ranges. Our geographical approach leads us to emphasize this unique contrast between nature and urban density through the unified landscape of a transposed natural environment. The 23-hectare park is designed to be an integral part of the waterfront and extends along the waterfront, creating a new, large-scale green skyline. This  magnificent public park, with its sculpted terrain, with dense tree planting, provides shade and shelter, while a series of outdoor terraces and promenades links the cultural buildings to the waterfront with vistas to Hong Kong Island. A continue two-kilometer-long harbor-front promenade gives the people of Hong Kong their chance to look back at the city’s iconic skyline.
