A train station made for regional connection

The new Noisy-Champs train station is part of the ongoing development of Greater Paris. The project features, which include urban and architectural densification, a road network, and a new landscape design, all strengthen the structure and layout of the entire area. The site sits near the Marne River, among the vast landscapes, parks, and forests that make up one of the largest wooded spaces in eastern Greater Paris (such as the Armainvilliers and Notre Dame national forests, as well as the Ferrières regional forest). The train station is a central hub, routing heavy traffic for a complex system of intersecting transportation lines, including regional RER commuter trains, subways, buses, and active transportation. For the cities of Noisy-le-Grand and Champs-sur-Marne, the new station and landscape design provide structure for existing public spaces. For the surrounding region, the project heightens landscape legibility throughout the existing natural environment. Designed with this regional scale in mind, a dense network of green spaces and flourishing vegetation suffuses the urban fabric and grows alongside the train tracks, enriching the Noisy-Champs train station and the urban development in the nearby Cité Descartes neighborhood. This project is the first step in the long-term transformation of the entire area.
