In this park at the Louvre museum, the surrounding desert landscape is scaled and recreated to fill the museum grounds. Our design here is a celebration of the desert, showcasing the striking topography, unique flora, and innovative forms of agriculture that have found ways to tap into the power of this arid region. In this environment, these agricultural landscapes – characterized by an almost abstract, basic geometry – are juxtaposed with the vivid textural complexity of the desert. This juxtaposition is a major source of inspiration for our design. A mosaic of gardens blooms throughout the park, highlighting the beauty of the surrounding landscape, the close connection with the sea, and the innovation of local agricultural forms. A comfortable and shaded promenade runs through this human-made yet naturalistic landscape of dunes and lagoons. The planting composition blends native species and xeric, drought-tolerant species.
